Pippa Barton Crusaders Summer League
The Pippa Barton Crusaders Summer League is an internal club competition which has been running for at least 30 years and is held from November to February.
The aim of the Summer League is to provide competition for club members during the off-season and also to gain a mix of members in the 10 teams in which club players who do not normally meet during the league season are placed together in a team. The emphasis is on social squash, while also providing a healthy level of competition.
The Summer League also affords club members who do not play league a chance to test themselves in a reasonably competitive atmosphere, while prospective members can also put their names down to get a chance to see how the club operates.
The Summer League is played on Thursdays, with a total of 10 matches during the season. The matches are played from 5.30 to 8.30, with the time slot for each position changing each week.
The league is limited to 70 players and the teams are auctioned off at an annual “Summer League Auction” where the sponsors bid for the best top 10 men and women for their team.
